Birds ~~ Belted Kingfisher
Hello Everyone...
This is a fairly large bird about 13 inches in length and is easily recognized. It is a big headed and big billed. It is blue-gray above, with a ragged bushy crest and a broad blue-gray breast band. The female has an additional rusty breast band. This happens to be a female Belted Kingfisher. These in-flight photo's were taken on Apr 5th at the Chippewa Nature Center.

Hello Everyone...
I got one shot at photographing this female Belted Kingfisher. She dropped straight down, head first, into the water below. ((that's probably why I don't have another photograph of her, I was watching instead of photographing...hehe)) This bird is about 13 inches in length and has a big head and big bill.
This photo was taken at the Chippewa Nature Center on Mar 27th.
