Hello Everyone...
These photo's of a Green Heron were taken at the Chippewa Nature Center on May 4th. These birds are 16 to 22 inches in length. A small dark heron that in-flight looks crowlike (but flies with bowed wingbeats). When alarmed, it stretches its neck, elevates a shaggy crest and jerks its tail nervously. It has comparatively short legs and are greenish yellow (orange when breeding). It's back is bluish green and the neck is deep chestnut in color.
Enjoy!!
