Hello Everyone...
These photo's of a Scarlet Tanager were taken at the Chippewa Nature Center on May 10th. These birds are about 7 inches in length. The male is bright flaming scarlet in color and have jet-black wings and tail. The females are greenish above and yellow below with dark brownish or blackish wings. They have a rather stout, thicker bill and it is notched which is hard to see. These birds are often overlooked as they enjoy the highest branch in the tallest trees.
