These photo's of a Red-Eyed Vireo were taken at the Chippewa Nature Center on June 11th. The Red-Eyed Vireo are about 6 inches in length. They are olive / gray-backed birds with a gray cap and lack wing bars. They have a whitish breast and have black-bordered white eyebrow stripes. They have bills with a more curved ridge and have a slight hook. Their red iris is not obvious at a distance. The iris is brown in an immature bird. They enjoy insects and hange out in woodlands and groves. Both the male and female look similar.
These photo's of a Warbling Vireo were taken at the Chippewa Nature Center on June 11th. These birds are about 5 inches in length. They are olive / gray-backed birds and lack wing bars. They have a whitish breast and lack the black borders around the eyebrow stripe and have pale lores. They have bills with a more curved ridge and have a slight hook. Both male and female look similar. They enjoy insects and hang out in mixed woods, particularly near water.
