This photo of a male Red-Bellied Woodpecker was taken at the Bay City State Recreation Area on February 6, 2010. By the time I arrived in Bay City it had started snowing, and this photograph was taken through the windows of the viewing area in the visitor's center.

Hello Everyone...
We had bright sunshine this afternoon, but it was bitterly cold. I did venture out, although I should of stayed home where it was warm. Even the birds seemed to be hiding somewhere warm too!! I only heard one bird this afternoon and that was this Red-Bellied Woodpecker. I found it on this old tree, which I believe was an old Oak. Look at the size and thickness of the bark.
